Fundraising, fundraising, fundraising...

Was never much of a fundraiser. Never could stand it in school, never had any interest in a sales job and genuinely, I just feel bad asking people to buy overpriced items for any sort of cause especially items people would never buy otherwise. I found a couple of cool fundraisers I am going to be doing. One is for flower bulbs. They have all sorts of high quality bulbs and they actually are not a bad price...like you can pay 20 dollars for a variety of 56 bulbs that are guaranteed to bloom! I'm also contemplating selling candles. I'm not too sure yet though because they are very expensive and you have to sell 150 them or there is a 65 dollar shipping fee which if you only sold a few could make you lose money.

I also am going to be selling baby boutique headbands. I am making them myself. I am going to be trying to sell them on ebay and will also custom make pieces for people for 5 dollars each. If you are interested, let me know, they are very cute! Attached are some of the flowers I have made. They are one clips that you snap in your hair and can be used alone or attached to the lycra crocheted headband that will be included!

HOME STUDY APPROVED

I haven't posted on here in a while because our adoption process has been moving very slow. We had to wait on 5 letters of reference but we finally got them. We just got the word that we are home study approved. Now we just must wait for a match!!!

I added a donate button for those who are interested in donating to help us offset our adoption costs a bit. We are going to be applying for grants and fundraising but I know some people would just rather donate. All funds will be going directly towards adoption fees!

Home study soon

Our first home study visit is on Sunday. I'm real nervous. While I know we have enough money to support a child I worry that the agency will not think so....If anyone out there has any advice or can offer words of encouragement that would be great. My husband and I have not been that great with managing our money in the past but we are starting to save our money and manage it right. We have a mortgage and two car payments and manage those just fine...never missed or been late. We make about 50k between the two of us but I just worry because I'm not sure how much is enough. I'm afraid we put out this money and are getting our hopes up when we will get snagged up at this point. It seems like a lot of people I see that adopt have extra nice houses and are extremely educated or make a lot of money. Please someone ease my worry....

For those praying for us...

We found out a little more information. The birthmother of this little girl who is due March 2nd is a teenager. At this point she is unsure of what she wants to do. Her parents are supportive of her choosing adoption and she is looking into it and knows it is the best option. She just isn't sure if she can do it. The father is aware of the ... See Morepregnancy but has not been named and it is not known if he will sign the papers which I guess is not a big deal. The fees are about 18k which doesn't include the home study or consultant fees which will be about...2.5k more. The good thing is, this is through a Christian agency and no fees are due until the baby is placed with us which means we would be at no risk for losing money if she changes her mind. The baby is also in state which makes our legal fees about 2k cheaper and we would be able to take the baby from the hospital directly to our home while the adoption is being finalized so there would be very minimal travel expenses. The agency is also looking for a bi-racial, Christan couple to adopt this little one.
So please if you are praying for us please pray that the birth mother would make the best decision for her and this baby even if that means she doesn't choose us or chooses to raise the baby on her own. Please also pray that we will be able to find funding for this adoption process should we get to proceed. And also...lol...that our home study goes smoothly! Thank you so much!

well...

Well it has been some time. We decided to wait a little while on adoption. We had plans to start up the process in March when it was closer to a year on my new job...seems though that God might have other plans. Courtney at faithful adoption consultants contacted us about a situation for a little girl due in march and the birthmother is looking specifically for a biracial couple who are Christians. It seems so perfect for us and am hoping we can get everything together in time. That is only 3 months away!

Concerns

There are a lot of things we have thought about as we have considered adoption. For me, I personally know four people who are adopted. One of which is my sister, one was my pastor's daughter, and two were friends I grew up with. At times I have seen discontent with some of these people because they were adopted. I worry sometimes, that maybe my child, when they get older will have that same discontent.

Another big worry for both of us is finances. While we know we can support a child, the cost of adoption is pretty insane depending on the situation. Most people just don't have that kind of money laying around. I know I don't, and it would take years to save it up. I worry we will find what seems to be the perfect match and we will be unable to come up with the money. This is going to require much support from family and friends plus an all out trust that God will provide.

There is also the thought that the birth mother will change her mind. It would be so hard to believe you will be bringing your child home or have brought your child home, only to have him/her taken away.

There are so many things to worry about but you have to trust God will place everything in line. It is a hard process but we know it will all be worth it in the end.
